System of Admission

How to Apply

For application & detailed prospectus please send Rs. 300.00 by MO/DD drawn in favour of “Indian Diamond Institute” payable at Surat, India. On counter it can be available@Rs. 250/- only by CASH.

Graduate Diploma, Higher Diploma & Diploma programmes in the areas of Diamond, Gemstones & Jewellery, which are scheduled to commence as per their schedules in April, June, August & December. One has to appear in written entrance test followed by interview. And for all other certificate level programmes please fill up the application form & send to us, along with the necessary fees& document. (Pease refer page#60 for commencement schedule.)


The minimum educational qualification required for admission to a programme has been indicated at the respective programme details. This may, however, be relaxed at the discretion of the Executive Director of the institute. The minimum age of admission is 15 years. The candidates should be physically fit to undertake the training. The institute, however, reserves the right to refuse admission to any candidate without any explanation.

3-years Engineering diploma (after 10+2) holders will be considered eligible for Graduate Diploma programmes. Higher Diploma holders from IDI will also be treated at par Graduates eligibility for admission into Graduate Diploma Programmes. 3or 2 years diploma (after 10th) holders (from recognizes Institution) will be considered eligible for Diploma Programmes.

Application for Admission

the admission form for enrollment to a programme is attached in the booklet. It should be duly filled in and submitted to the institute well in time. The candidate should clearly indicate the name of programme he/she is interested in by filling the relevant information in the application form. Admission is subject to availability of seats.
Selection Procedure
Selection is on the basis of qualification and the performance in the written test & personal interview.

Entrance Test

For all Higher Diploma level programmes, institute conducts the written test (Objective Type) followed by personal interview. Selection of candidate will be made on the performance of candidate in written test & personal interview.
Fees for entrance test: Rs250/- Per course.

Mode of Payment

Fees of Graduate Diploma programmes can be paid in two installments. Certificate, non standards and Home Study programmes candidate has to pay the total fee at the time of admission by Cash or DD drawn in favour of “Indian Diamond Institute” Payable at Surat. It is to be noted that institute doesn’t accepts cheques whether local or outstation.
-Additional Installment fee as administrative change: Rs 200

Request for change in Programme

Change in programme may be allowed From lower to higher programme (i.e. Certificate to Diploma / Graduate Diploma) if the request is made for the same within 07 days of admission. The change is subject to availability of seats, eligibility criteria and with prior permission of the Director. In such case, the candidate has to pay additional Rs. 2000.00 towards administrative change & difference in the fee. Fee once paid will not be refunded in any case. Choice of shifting from higher diploma to Graduate Diploma / Diploma is not permitted.

Withdrawal of admission

Fees will not be refunded to the students seeking withdrawal from the programme on their own. 50% of their all deposits will also be confiscated. Student taken admission in Graduate Diploma / Diploma programmes under INSTALLMENT OPTION, wishing to discontinue his/her programme on his/her own, excess of amount will be refunded only after adjusting the amount of fee due , from hostel & mess fee and the deposits.

Withdrawal of Hostel

After paying the fees for hostels, if student would like to vacant the hostel without giving prior information (One month in an advance), one month hostel fees & recreations fees will be deducted & balance amount will be returned back. However, hostel deposit will be returned at the end of the course only.
Special consideration in regard to tuition fees has been given by the Management in the case of Handicapped only (those who are really poor ) to the extent of 50% only in certificate level & regular standard programmes on production of certificate issued by Civil Surgeon.

Foreign nationals have to pay fees in US $ by demand draft as mentioned in the prospectus. Also, foreign nationals have to pay 50% of fee in US $ by demand draft along with application form as an advance fee to get “Letter of Acceptance-cum-Selection Letter” to get student visa from respective consulate
