This is
a programme designed to produce technocrats for Jewellery
Industry by imparting training through all the areas of
jewellery designing, manufacturing, setting, finishing
processes etc. The candidates go through practical training
in cast jewellery manufacturing techniques. In addition,
they are also given theoretical & practical knowledge on
diamond grading, gem identification. Students are also
exposed to Computer environment & the various optical
gemmological instruments used in the most advanced gem
testing laboratories for testing & certification of gems.
At the
end of the programmed, the candidate should be able to
appraise diamond and jewellery, besides having knowledge of
basics of jewellery designing & manufacturing.
As
such, the module is very useful to entrepreneurs and those
having knowledge of diamonds and willing to enter into
jewellery line. A trained person can work as an independent
consultant or secure a job with jewellery
manufacturing/traders in India or abroad.

Jewellery designing (Manual & CAD based), technical drawing
jewellery making & stone setting, rubber mold making, waxing
& preparation of max tree, Investing and use of burnout
furnace, Metal casting, CAM technology, its advantages &
disadvantages, various finishing processes. Assaying of
Gold. Diamond identification, and grading as per
international standards using various advance optical
instruments, gemstone identification & computer operation
Valuation of Jewellery design and economics of a jewellery
unit .
